Aches and pains are signs that your body is not working right. Your brain, spinal cord and all your nerves control how your body works. Physical, chemical and/or emotional stresses produce a defensive posture.

This defensive posture results in abnormal muscle contraction that locks spinal joints. Locked joints (subluxations) irritate and pinch the nearby nerves.

A thorough examination helps chiropractors find these locked joints and applying a precise force (chiropractic adjustment) will unlock these joints to correct the defensive posture.

There are approximately 40 different ways to analyze and adjust the spine. Actual adjustments will vary depending on the patient. This is how chiropractic has helped millions get well and stay well.

How Often Will I Have To Be "Adjusted" and For How Long?

In some cases the relief is almost instant. Many patients see relief in a few treatments, but in chronic cases complete healing may take longer. Regular check-ups help ensure problems don't reoccur.

Can I Correct A Locked Joint or Subluxation Myself?

No. One method some people use to try to correct a locked joint is to "pop" their spine themselves by twisting or turning.

Although this movement may cause the bones to move and often "pop", it is not specific enough to solve the problem. Often it is counter-productive because it makes the unstable areas of the spine more unstable.

Adjusting the spine is not for amateurs and can cause further discomfort and spinal damage if done incorrectly.
