Spinal Decompression
Spinal decompression is an effective safe treatment for neck/lower back pain and disc herniation. This treatment gently stretches the spine to allow for decompression of the discs.
When the spine is stretched, the vertebra gently separate creating a “vacuum phenomenon” within the disc (DECOMPRESSION).
This decompression takes pressure off the nerve while nutrients are being “sucked” into the injured disc. Treatment sessions typically allow 15-20 minutes per session.
In addition to decompression, patient will be transitioned to the ATM2 BackProject Therapy (see below). The combination of the two types of treatment has been shown to improve patients' health more quickly.
ATM2 BackProject
The ATM2 is a device used for pain relief, to improve flexibility, and strengthen core muscle groups. Most people are familiar with the term “core” muscle but rarely know what that term means.
A majority of the time the core muscles are strong enough, but they just are not firing properly. When the spine is injured, certain muscles will contract to protect the rest of the spine. In time the spine may heal, but this protective muscle firing pattern will continue.
The ATM2 BackProject is designed to correct these protective firing patterns. The initial goal is for immediate and lasting pain reduction for the patient while stabilizing large global muscles of the body.
When this stabilization occurs, the Central Nervous System (CNS) now has better communication with the core-muscle groups for support and protection of the spine.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy relieves tension that builds up in the body and muscles. It is used for relaxation and healing of the soft tissue due to stress and muscle tightness.
Massage may release your body’s natural painkillers and boost your immune system.
In addition, this type of therapy relieves stress, encourages relaxation, improves circulation, decreases pain, relaxes muscles, improves flexibility and much more.
Impairment Rating
Dr. Ken is a Board Certified Impairment Rater from the North American Academy of Impairment Rating Physicians. This certification requires ongoing education to stay up with the latest guidelines put out by the American Medical Association.
Impairment ratings are often misunderstood by other physicians, attorneys and patients. An impairment rating is where specific guidelines are used by the physician who will determine what percentage of function of an injured body part has been lost due to injury/conditions.
